ACTIVITIES OF SALAR JUNG MUSEUM FOR - AUGUST 2008

I. Exhibitions

Temporary Exhibitions
A photo exhibition on "1857 Freedom Movement" was jointly organized by the Salar Jung Museum and D.A.V.P. at Salar Jung Museum. This exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. A. N. Reddy, Director I/c., Salar Jung Museum on 14th August, 2008.

A Special festival on Sri Krishna was organized on the occasion of Janmasthami Prof. T. Tirupati Rao, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University, Hyderabad and Hon’ble Member, Salar Jung Museum Board inaugurated the special exhibition on 23-08-2008 in the Western Block of Salar Jung Museum. A variety of Art works on Krishna Theme especially ivory painted wood, sandal wood, miniatures and bronze ranging from the 14th Century were displayed in the exhibition.

II. Special Lecture

Salar Jung Museum and Historical Society of Hyderabad jointly organized a special lecture on “The Religion of Prophet Zarathushtra” by the Mr. Mehernosh H. Bharucha, Panthaky (Head Priest) of Bai Manekbai N. Chenoy Dar-a-Meher (Fire Temple) Hyderabad on 09th August, 2008.







III. Workshop

A three day National Workshop on Curative Conservation of Paintings was organized by the Salar Jung Museum from 18th to 20th August, 2008. This workshop was dealing with Paintings such as Oil and Canvas, Palm Leaf, Kalamkari, Miniature and Modern paintings. This workshop was inaugurated by Dr. A. N. Reddy, Director I/c., Salar Jung Museum, Hyderabad. Lecturers were delivered by Dr. B.V. Kharbade, Scientist Senior Head, RCL., Mysore on Cleaning of Paintings. Lecture on Chemical cleaning of Ajanta Murals was delivered by Dr. V. S. Raghavandra Rao, Dy. Superintendent of Archaeology.



IV. OTHER ACTIVITIES

61st Independence Day was celebrated in the Salar Jung Museum on 15th August, 2008. Dr. A. N. Reddy, Director I/c., Salar Jung Museum unfurled the national flag. All the staff of the Museum and CISF., staff have attended the function
