ACTIVITIES OF SALAR JUNG MUSEUM FOR - FEBRUARY 2010

I. Administration:

The Salar Jung Museum Board meeting was convened on 13th February, 2010 in the Salar Jung Museum. H.E. the Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Chairman, Salar Jung Museum Board presided over the Board meeting.

I. Educational Activities:

(i) Temporary Exhibition

(1) A special photo exhibition on “Indian Life and Landscape by Western Artists; Paintings and drawings from the V&A 1790-1927” was organized by the Salar Jung Museum in collaboration with Victoria and Albert Museum, London. The exhibition was inaugurated on 13th February’ 2010 by H.E. Sri E.S.L. Narasimhan, Governor of A.P. and Chairman, Salar Jung Museum Board in the presence of Sri Jawhar Sircar, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, Sri Moira Gemmill, Director, Projects, Design and Estate, V&A Museum, London, Ms. Ruth Gee, Regional Director India and Sri Lanka, British Council, Sri J.M. Lyngdoha, Former Chief Election Commissioner.

(ii) A special photo exhibition on “The Sundhya” was also organized by the Salar Jung Museum and inaugurated on 14th February’ 2010 connecting the exhibition “Indian Life and Landscape by Western Artists paintings and drawings from the V&A 1790-1927”. .


II. Other Activities:

As part of the other academic activities along with ILL exhibition, the Salar Jung Museum has organized Art Camp for senior artists “Connecting…” during 18th – 20th February, 2010 in assistance with the V&A, British Council and World Collection Programme. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Padmasri Dr. Jagadish Mittal in presence of other senior artists from twin cities. 24 senior artists and 12 junior artists have participated in the camp and drawn pictures. This programme was co-sponsored by Jawaharlal university of Architecture and Fine arts, Sri Venkateswara School of Fine arts etc.
