ACTIVITIES OF SALAR JUNG MUSEUM FOR - JUNE 2008

I. Exhibitions

Temporary Exhibitions
Exhibition on Free Masonry & Salarjung as a Free mason. Nawab Salarjung Bahadur was a Freemason. He joined Golkonda Lodge in 1912. In his Birth Anniversary Celebrations a special Exhibition “Free Masonry & Salarjung as a Free Mason” was organized by the Museum on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Salarjung-III on 14th June, 2008. 351 artifacts from the collection of Salarjung Museum, Model Lodge 355 , Goshamahal Lodge & Lodge Akram were displayed.

M.W. Bro Justice Devender Gupta inaugurated the Exhibition. This exhibition remained open for public till 24th June, 08. Nawab Ahtheram Ali Khan, Family member of Nawab Salarjung, W.Bro Varanasi Narasimham also attended the inaugural function.

(ii) A Photo Exhibition entitled Turkish Artifacts in the collection of Salarjung Museum was organized by the Museum at Turkey visited 7 Museums in 3 cities of Turkey, Qunia, Angara & Stanful. Also visited Libraries, schools and Universities.

II. Death Anniversary of Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, Salarjung-III.

The staff and officers of the Museum paid respects to the Founder of the Museum Nawab Salarjung –III at his daira on 5th June, 2008. Quran Khawami Majlis-e-Aza, by Maulana Akhthar Zaid, Sahib Qibla was performed. Nawab Ahtheram Ali Khan, Family member, Salarjung-III attended the anniversary.

III. Summer Nature Camp.

Regional Museum of Natural History Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India and Salarjung Museum jointly organized Summer Nature Camp 2008 on 6th June, 2008. Sri P.Bhasker Reddy, IPS., Director Nehru Zoological Park, Hyderabad was the Chief Guest of the inaugural function Dr. C.P.Uniyal, Director Incharge, Salarjung Museum presided over the function.

IV. Birth Anniversary of Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan Bahadur Salarjung – III .

Birth Anniversary of Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan Bahadur Salarjung – III was celebrated in the Salarjung Museum from 14th to 21st June, 2008.

Most worshipful the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of India M.W. Brow. Justice Devender Gupta, OSM attended the inaugural function as Chief Guest .Nawab Ahtheram Ali Khan, Member, Nawab Salajung’s family, presided over the function.

During the week, the Museum organized Cultural programmes and memorial lectures. Special Dinner for staff & Guests and VIPs was arranged on 20th June, 08. The Museum was kept open for half-a-day for physically challenged children. Sports and games competitions were also conducted for the Museum staff and prizes were distributed to the winners.

On the valedictory function on the occasion of Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Salarjung-III Sri Narayan Datt Tiwari, H.E. the Governor of Andhra Pradesh attended as Chief Guest and inaugurated C.C.T.V. and also released Urdu Guide Book on Salar Jung Museum. Nawab Ahtheram Ali Khan attended as Guest of honor.
