ACTIVITIES OF SALAR JUNG MUSEUM FOR - MARCH 2009

I. Educational Activities

Temporary Exhibitions

A special festival photo exhibition “Seerat-e- Tayiba Muqamat-e-Muqaddasah” was organized by the Salar Jung Museum on 24th March’ 2009. This exhibition was organized on the eve of Milad un Nabi (PBUH). The exhibition was inaugurated by Nawab Ahteram Ali Khan, Hon’ble Member of Salar Jung Museum Board. 70 rare photographs of Holy places relating to Sirah have been displayed.



II. Seminar

A Two-day National Seminar on “The Contribution of Indian Scholars to Sirah Literature” was organized on 16th and 17th March’ 2009 at Salar Jung Museum. Shri Muhammed Raheemuddin Ansari, President Urdu Academy, A.P. inaugurated the seminar.




III. Special Lecture

Salar Jung Museum and Historical Society of Hyderabad jointly arranged a lecture on “Agra Fort and Shahjahan by Dr. Abdul Quiyum on 14th March’ 2009. A Book on “Dance as Depicted in Kakatiyan Sculpture and Literature” written by Dr. S. Saraswati was released by Dr. V.V. Krishna Sastry, Director (Retd.), Archaeology and Museum, Govt. of A.P. and former Member, Salar Jung Museum Board

IV. Other Activities:

International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day was celebrated in the Salar Jung Museum on 8th March’ 2009. Smt. Dolly Chakraborthy, IA & AS, Accountant General (A&E), A.P., Hyderabad was the Chief Guest. Dr. A. Nagender Reddy, Director I/c., Salar Jung Museum presided over the celebrations.



On this occasion, a special painting exhibition “Kala Shrusti” was organized by women artists of Twin Cities. Around 40 women artists have participated with their paintings for display in the exhibition.

Mobile Exhibition: 12,060 students from 8 Educational Institutions availed the mobile van exhibition facilities.
