1. A special exhibition on “Bidri Ware – The Art of Bidar” was organized by the Salar Jung Museum on 9th November, 2009. Bidri art works from the reserve collection were displayed in the exhibition.
2. On the occasion of Children’s Week (14th -20th November, 2009) a special exhibition on “Children’s Creativity” was organized by the Salar Jung Museum on 14th November, 2009. This exhibition was inaugurated by Dr.Surya Prakash, Hon’ble Member, Child Welfare Committee and Dr. S.V.Kameswari was the Guest of Honour.
3. On the occasion of World Heritage Week Celebrations (from 19th -25th November, 2009) a special exhibition on “Zardozi & Built Heritage” was organized by the Salar Jung Museum on 19th November, 2009. This exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Veda Kumar, Former Member, Heritage Committee.
II. Lectures:
1. Salar Jung Museum has organized a lecture on “Bidri Sanath (Craftsmanship)” on 17th November 2009. This lecture was delivered by Sri M.A.Qayyum, Former Dy. Director, State Archaeological Dept.
2. Salar Jung Museum and Historical Society of Hyderabad jointly organized a special lecture on “Cannons in Deccan Forts – The Neglected Beauties of India”. This lecture was delivered by Dr. S.Jaikishan, Head, Dept. of History, Oriental College, Dharmapuri on 14th November, 2009.
3. On the occasion of Constitution Dedication Day (26th November), Salar Jung Museum organized a special lecture on 26th November, 2009. Sri G. Shanker, Secretary General, Andhra Pradesh SC BR>
III. Workshop
1. Salar Jung Museum has organized a workshop on “Bidri Ware – The Art of Bidar” on 9th November, 2009 in collaboration with Gulistan Bidri Works Co-operative Society, Hyderabad. Craftsmen from the society were invited to give live demonstration on Bidri Art making. Students from JNFAU, artists from twin cities and general visitors have participated in the workshop.
2. On the occasion of World Heritage Week Celebrations (from 19th -25th November, 2009) a workshop on “Zardozi” was organized by Salar Jung Museum on 19th November, 2009. This workshop was inaugurated by Mr.Veda Kumar, Former Member, Heritage Committee. Craftsmen from twin cities were invited to give live demo on the Zardozi art.
IV. Panel Discussion
On the occasion of World Heritage Week Celebrations (19th -25th November, 2009) Salar Jung Museum organized a panel discussion on “Heritage & Science” on 19th November, 2009. Invitees are from Geological Survey of India, Hyderabad Heritage Committee and other organizations.
V. Other Activities
Children Week: - During the Children’s Week (14th-20th November), the Museum organized various competitions such as essay writing, elocution and drawing for school students on 16th and 17th November, 2008. During the Children Week, all the school children were allowed free entry into the Salar Jung Museum.
International Exhibition Gems of Calligraphy: - An International exhibition entitled “Gems of Calligraphy and Muslim Religious Poster and Calendar Art” was organised at Masjid al Kabeer, Kuwait from 9th -14th November, 2009 in connection with the Cultural Festival of
India in Kuwait under the aegis of Government of India in co-ordination with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, Government of Kuwait.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr.Adilal Falah, Secretary, Minister for Wakf, Government of Kuwait, in presence of Shri Ajay Malhotra, Ambassador of India to Kuwait. Large number of diplomats, Kuwait citizens and NRIs were present in the inaugural function.
The Salar Jung Museum, also took part in the exhibition and 50 digital images of rare calligraphic panels, Indian Muslim religious posters and Calendar Art were displayed in which the Indian Calligraphers, guilders and artists have presented their skills. A publication on the exhibition has also brought out on this occasion.
