I. Exhibitions

Temporary Exhibitions
a) The Salar Jung Museum organized a temporary exhibition on “Illuminated Codices of Quran”. 54 Manuscripts of Al-Quran of Salar Jung Museum were displayed in the temporary exhibition. The exhibition was inaugurated on 15th September 2008 by Janab Hussain Yazdan Moghadam, H.E. the Consulate General Islamic Republic of Iran and Nawab Mir Muazam Hussain former Director, UNESCO., was the Chief guest of the exhibition.

b) An exhibition on Calligraphic Art of “Quranic Verses” by Hafiza Mubeena Begum was arranged by the Museum on 25th September, 2008. This exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. A.N. Reddy, Director, Salar Jung Museum.

c) On the occasion of “World Tourism Day” the Museum organized a photo exhibition on “Salar Jung Museum at Dewan Deodi”. The photos from 1951 to 1968 were displayed in the exhibition. Sri G. Kuseum, Keeper inaugurated the photo exhibition on 27th September, 2008 and Dr. A. N. Reddy, Director I/c., Salar Jung Museum attended the inaugural function.

d) On the occasion of the Memory of 1908 “Musi River Floods” affected areas old photographs was arranged in the Salar Jung Museum on 28th September 2008.

II. Special Lecture

Salar Jung Museum and Historical Society of Hyderabad jointly organized a Lecture on the “Documentation on Cholamurals; Brihadisvara Temple, Tanjore” by Sri P. S. Sriraman, Asst. Superintendent, Archaeologist, Fort Museum, Chennai.


Hindi Sapthah Samaroah was held in the Salar Jung Museum from 15th to 20th September, 2008. Prof. M. Venkateshwar, Head, Dept. of Hindi (Retd.) Osmania University Hyderabad inaugurated the Hindi Sapthah Samaroah on 15th September, 2008. During the period the Museum arranged lectures, Kavisammelan and Elocution and Essay writing competitions for school children.

On 20th September, 2008 the valedictory function was celebrated and prize were distributed by the Chief guest Sri Love Verma, Joint Secretary, Raj Basha, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

Parliamentary Standing Committee under the Chairmanship of Sri Sitaram Yechuri, M.P visited the Salar Jung Museum on 17th September, 2008.
