ACTIVITIES OF SALAR JUNG MUSEUM FOR - SEPTEMBER 2010

I. Educational Activities

1. Temporary Exhibitions

i) On the occasion of Teacher’s Day, the Salar Jung Museum organized a Special Exhibition on “Traditions & Concerns” on 5th September’ 2010. The Paintings by Smt. N.V.P.S.S. Lakshmi were displayed in the exhibition. Sri B.A.Reddy eminent artist, Hyderabad attended the inaugural function as chief guest.

 

 

ii) A special exhibition and 3 day Workshop on “Cherial Paintings” was organized by the Salar Jung Museum from 23rd to 25th September, 2010. Master Craftsmen (Six) from Cherial (V) Warangal (Dist) have given training for 85 participants (Fine Arts students and others) who attended the workshop. The Museum organized this workshop to popularize art of Cherial Paintings as part of its educational programme.

 
     
 

 

iii) On the occasion of World Tourism Day (Sept 27th ) a joint programme was proposed by the Secretary (YAT), AP Tourism, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh.

In this context, the Salar Jung Museum has organized a photo exhibition on “Salar Jung Museum Then and Now” at People’s Plaza. Photographs depicting galleries of Dewan Deodhi were displayed. A slide show also arranged showing the present galleries in detail.

 



2. Hindi Sapthah

i) The Hindi Sapthah (Hindi week) was celebrated in the Salar Jung Museum from 14th to 20th September’2010. Dr.Veerpal Varma, Assistant Director, Hindi Teaching Scheme, Kendriya Sadan, Hyderabad, inaugurated the Hindi Sapthah on 14th September. During the period the Museum arranged essay writing, elocution, quiz and anthyakshari competitions on 20th September’ 2010. The Valedictory function was held and prizes were distributed by the chief guest Dr.Prabhakar Thripathi, Head, Hindi Department, Hindi College, Hyderabad.
